The inter-company visit meeting organized by Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) held at Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) on 22nd June 2011 was a very insightful forum for invited organisations. The aim of the meeting was to allow KWS who emerged tops in two categories of Company of the Year Awards (COYA) i.e Human Resource Focus and Corporate Citizenship & Environmental Focus, to share and showcase their strengths in both categories. Several representatives from various companies were in attendance. Kenya Forest Service was represented by Simon Ng’ang’a of ICT department. Mr. Julius Kipng’etich, Director of KWS, emphasized that corporate organizations should strengthen and direct their corporate social responsibility to communities. “Reach out to the communities and empower them in order to sustain your CSR activities”, he said. Mr. David Muturi, the Kenya Institute of Management, CEO encouraged organizations to participate in Organizational Performance Index (OPI) excellence model which is a self-assessment model that enables companies to bench mark themselves.
