The KFS volley ball team recently won trophies in two different tournaments in Nairobi and Eldama Ravine. The team comprising of KFS staff and the neighbouring Huruma community had been practicing very hard in the run up to the tournaments and the wins came as a sweet surprise given the high level of competition. The Chairman’s Cup and the Esaco Tree Planting tournament were won in cut throat finals at the Railways Club in Nairobi and Eldama Ravine respectively.

While receiving the trophies from the team, the Director Mr. David Mbugua congratulated them for the good work saying that the impressive efforts by the team had prompted management to support sport activities in the Service. He promised the team new uniforms and other kits in order to give the team a corporate look much to the applause of the team members.

The Director also asked the Human Resource Division represented by the Deputy Director Mr. Julius Olayo at the brief event to organize for allowances every time the team travels out to represent the Service in the future. He also extended his support to the other teams including the football team and the KFS choir saying that they were all doing a good job in representing KFS in different fora.

On the issue of the community members playing on the team, the Director thanked them and promised to look into ways of offering them positions in the Service so as to make them fully KFS. The Director also took the opportunity to let the Rangers know that the Service was doing everything possible to employ them on KFS terms. He said this was the priority of the Service at the moment because of the crucial job that Rangers do in the protection of forests. He added that the recruitment of Inspectors to be in charge of Forest Zones will be done internally.

On his part, Mr. Olayo noted that staff members were taking up extracurricular activities that were boosting the image of the Service. He singled out the KFS Choir which he said was receiving recognition of the Presidential Music Commission in the near future. He also noted that the football and the volley ball teams were doing very well as exemplified by the two beautiful trophies.
The team Captain Mr. Emmanuel Kuloba presented the trophies to the Director on behalf of his teammates.
